Apple launches Thinnest iPad yet – The iPad Air
Apple since the launch of its first iPad in 2010 has continuously worked to making it better and better. Three years down the line and we are standing at the 5th generation of Apple iPads’, the newest of the bunch is the “iPad Air”. The iPad Air is the thinnest iPad yet, weighing in at only 1 pound (469 g). Though very light the Aluminum body makes it holding in the hand very comfortable.
The design of the iPad has been changed slightly making it more sleek and everything looks very sharp on the 9.7 inch Retina LED Back lit IPS display (2048×1536 resolution). The iPad Air is powered by the A7 64-bit processor with a M7 motion coprocessor (Same as the one found in the iPhone 5S). This makes the iPad Air the first tablet to be powered by a 64-bit processor.
The iPad Air holds a 5MP shooter at the back, capable of taking Full HD 1080p videos and a 1.2 MP Face Time HD front camera. Apple have also given the iPad Air two WiFi antennas instead of one making browsing on the web twice as fast. The iPad Air comes in two variants a WiFi only and WiFi+Cellular. A Nano sim card would be required for the cellular version and will be LTE compatible.
We expected it to have a Fingerprint scanner but sadly it does not have everything. The iPad Air though runs on the latest iOS 7 and uses the big screen to its advantage for organizing your stuff.
Now coming to the color and accessories part, the iPad Air comes in two colors Space Gray and Silver. Apple has complimented the slender frame of the Apple Air with its two covers, the Smart Cover and Smart Case. The difference between the two is that the Cover is only for protection of the iPad screen, while the Smart Cover takes care of the front as well as back of the iPad Air. The covers come in a number of colors giving your iPad Air more personality. The iPad Air will be available at a retail price of $499, So what do you think about the new iPad Air will it be in your Christmas shopping list?
